Earrings for the 12th Man Fan

One of the gifts I received this year were a set of "12" earrings to support the Seattle Seahawks. My friend Victoria makes these really cool earrings and has them for sale in her Etsy shop. Take a look....

I have mine hooked on my Seahawk tree when I'm not wearing them.

(sorry for the blurry photo, Victoria has several close ups for more details.)
Go Hawks!

Dec. Pics

After all that waiting, Christopher's kids finally got to open their gifts. Megan had been asking for a phone all year long. When she didn't get one for her birthday in June she pushed hard for a phone for Christmas. We saved the best gift for last and poor little Megan lost all hope for a phone. Elizabeth was the first to open her phone and Megan couldn't believe it. She was in a state of disbelief and stated, "If this is a dream i will be so upset!"

After all their whining and complaining which they did a lot of (except for William), I think the kids were happy with their gifts and will be whining less now that they won't be bored to death!

We also celebrated William's 14th birthday on the 21st. My coworker Sarah made him a 4 layer chocolate cake with white frosting from scratch using the theme from the card game - Magic: the gathering.

I also forgot to share pictures of my Craft Day Holiday Get Together! We celebrated at Victoria's house and were blessed to have Wendy and her newborn Euniva (not sure if I'm spelling that right) in our presence.

So happy to see all my crafty friends!

Dec. 21 - 24

Well, Santa, I've been very good this year. Here's the last few things to share of what I made this holiday season and this ornament is my favorite, so much, that I didn't want to give it away. It hangs nicely on our tree.

I made this ornament for one of my bosses and I can't help but like this polar bear.

I picked up another little treat for me....hard to see but it's a little seahorse. He fit right in :)

Can't believe it's Christmas Eve! Can't wait to see my family!

Dec. 20

5 days til Christmas! All the presents are wrapped, grocery shopping is done, the menu planned and Christopher's 3 kids will be with us for the next 5 days. The first night here, the girls wore out their dad asking to open gifts today, but he held his ground.
I whipped up this Christmas display using a 7 Gypsies tray I've had for years. Got out my hot glue gun and had this done in no time. Cute for a little kid.

Dec. 17 - 19

Here's a larger version of the blue mason jar landscapes in an open container. These are super quick to make and add festive cheer! How can you not love those little mushrooms. They came all the way from New Zealand, thanks Yolande!

and here's a little treat i bought myself...a cut piece of wood. i know kinda odd to buy wood, but it goes well with the terrarium vibe.

6 days til Christmass....

Dec. 14-16

I have a love affair for air plants and terrariums, so when I saw ornaments like this at Flora Grubb I knew I wanted to make some for my tree.

Dec. 3, 4, 5 & 6

The first time I saw these blue mason jars I knew I would have a hard time giving them away. Such a pretty blue. If you add white sand with faux snow they make cute Christmas landscapes. I have seen people use epsom salt too.

I bought a pack of bottled Christmas trees at Home Depot and the little white ones at Ben Franklin. To make the signs I hot glued chipboard embellishments (DIY Design it Yourself) onto bamboo skewers or toothpicks and on a couple i put word stickers from Jillibean. I love how they turned out and want to make one with a toy truck with tree in back. Happy crafting!

Dec. 1 & 2

Lucky for me, I took Dec. 1st and 2nd off from work for an extended holiday vacation. While folks were hard at work on a Tuesday afternoon, I went out Christmas shopping and enjoyed little to no lines. I'm still thinking of the perfect gift for Christopher, but for the most part have finished! Woot! I also have my sister and mom's birthday and my mom is tough to shop for.

After our big win last Thursday, I made my first Seahawk Christmas tree. Ben Franklin demo'd glittered ornaments with the number 12 on them and i liked them so much I knew I was going to make more. They had a glue you could buy for $6 for 2 oz., but I found online that you can use Pledge Floor Shine (27 oz.) for the same price. Basically you need a glue that is very liquid, which makes coating the inside of the ornament easy.

My goal is to post something I made every day in the month of December. I am already cutting myself some slack, ha!

Goodbye November

December is a day away and I've been a busy little crafter. Started pumping out birthday card after birthday card and now I get to focus on Christmas.

Looking forward to blessing my family with gifts and cards, decorating the house, family meals, play time with the kiddos, watching the snow fall, movie nights with Christopher, the list goes on.....

10.16.14

as i prepared to make 2 boss's day cards for my bosses, christopher kindly asked me to make him 3 boss's day cards bringing my total to 5.  wasn't expecting that, but being a card maker you just go into production mode. i found inspiration from danielle flanders and made 2 cards on the diagonal, 2 cards into prize ribbons and one heidi swapp style with a lot of banners.

Goodbye Sod and Filbert Tree!

I had been asking my dad if he could bring his excavator over to remove some lawn for a fire pit area and he told me he would get back to me. Well, last Saturday I get the call that he's coming over and I am thinking Oh Crap I am so not ready. Christopher was a little irked at me for not having a plan, but I did have a plan...remove as much grass as my dad could possibly do!

We started with the fire pit area which we were definitely sure of.

and then I was like do you think you could remove a large bush and Filbert tree. My dad was hesitant because it was so close to the house, but I encouraged him saying why don't you try and see.

Oh my goodness, I can't even begin to tell you how elated I was for having this removed!

Back to the fire pit area, so he cleared that out and I said if you still have time you can remove lawn from the privacy screen up to the gate.
I worked like a dog raking it out as well as removing spots of grass that he couldn't reach. Seriously, I worked like a dog and felt every muscle in my body the next day. But here is what we have and I am jumping for joy not having to mow this area any more! Hello pavers and gravel!
Happy Day!

Rag rug and Project Life

Happy to report I have been crafting again. It started with a coworker mentioning rag rugs and myself not knowing what one was. I Googled it and thought I could that, so with her generosity she provided long fabric scraps for me to practice with. Another coworker is a master knitter/crocheter so I sought her instruction to start me off. I ran out of girly colors to make this one any bigger.
I love how busy it keeps me while watching hockey with Christopher. Now that I can make an oval, I am learning how to crochet a cirlce. Pics to come.

Being in crafty mode, I decided it was time to start Autumn's scrapbook album. Linda received a 12x12 album as a gift so all I needed were photos. Unfortunately, Linda is one busy mama/loan officer and photos she did not provide. I have been slacking taking photos so I relied on what I already had which wasn't much and made 6 pages to start Autumn's album. Once I showed Donnie and Skylar the album, they immediately sent me more photos of Autumn that they had taken with their phones. (more work and pics to come)

I have been wanting to try a simpler way to scrapbook called Project Life. It uses pocket pages and precut cards to make scrapbooks fast. Being my frugal self, I didn't want to buy the pocket pages so I just improvised and did as much Project Life style as I could and some are clearly not PL style. I was just so happy to be scrapping again.
